Please don’t cry you don’t know
How my heart aches when I make you blue
I’d forsake the whole world for you if I could
Not that that would do us much good
Tell me why if you can
All the right words show up so late
I can’t anticipate what they’ll be
But I’ll keep trying ‘cause you’re worth it to me
You’ve got me wishin’ on a shootin’ star
But superstition won’t get us very far
Can’t you see how lucky we are?
We should be laughing by now
We should have kissed and said, “It’s all fine
Let’s make up for lost time”
When you frown I smile inside
‘Cause I’ve learned that look pretty well
It means we might soon break the spell and be friends
Open up your smile and let the light pour in
You’ve got me wishin’ on a shootin’ star
But superstition won’t get us very far
Can’t you see how lucky we are?
We should be laughing by now
We should have kissed and said, “It’s all fine
Let’s make up for lost time”
So if you catch my drift
You need not look away
I’ll meet you more than halfway and you’ll see
You could do a whole lot worse than me
We should be laughing by now
We should have kissed and said, “It’s all fine
Let’s make up for lost time” (Repeat)
