Wilderness of Stars

(The Near Myths)
June 23, 2013
Ben Greene

Ben - vocal, acoustic guitar

Teep - lead guitar, bass

Phil - atmospherics

Well, you’re either in the circle or you ain’t

We’ve taken what it takes to feel like saints

Our words go round and round

Then they stop and the only sound

Is like the hum of fallen angels, sweet but faint

Chorus

Still night

Wilderness of stars

Big ol’ moon

There’s always now and eventually there’s soon

Five men, four A.M.

It’s either rise or swim

Still night

Wilderness of stars

Big ol’ moon

The world sure isn’t fair but the world’s not bad

We’ve been riffing on the glimmers that we’ve had

Our thoughts slip from our brains

And go drifting down the drain

And come out where the stars all gleam like mad

Chorus

The whole world’s sleeping tight but we are wide

We could hop in the Caprice and feel it glide

But from yonder stand of pines

Walks a bent dog, a sure sign

That here, on holy ground, we must abide

Still night

Twisted dog

Big ol’ moon

There’s always now and eventually there’s soon

Five men, four A.M.

It’s either rise or swim

Still night

Wilderness of stars

Big ol’ moon

Still night

Big ol’ moon
